While searching for informative videos and tutorials today, I stumbled across this great tutorial for a watercolor done by Sue Dickinson. I really love the richness of colors in her leopard watercolor as well as the innocent, kitten like pose of the leopard itself. I just had to share it! I realize that I am no where near Sue is when it comes to watercolors. Good composition, light, color and contour, laying 'layers of color' to watercolor. All of this learning comes with practice, patience, more practice and a good instructor! Read Sue's tutorial below, and stop by Watercolor For Newbiesfor an up close look at the techniques required to watercolor like a professional.
Watercolor for Newbies is new on Squidoo! This Squidoo contains all of the information you need to know to get started watercoloring from selecting the right brush, to finding the right weight paper that won't curl as you create your first watercolor.
Stopped in to Hobby Lobby last night as I realized that I wanted to check out some heavier paper. The sheets are quite large, 2x3 feet, I imagine. I also picked up an easle for a mere $12.99. What a deal! Had a great time putting the easle together while Allie chatted on the phone with one of her friends. I won't name any names, but someone has a crush on Jacob in Allie's class. Shh! The paper fit perfectly atop the easle. I think I am ready to get started with Watercolor for Newbies!
