How to Spot Internet Job Scams

Your time is your most valuable asset- especially when you are unemployed! NOW is the best time to get a little training in on how to spot internet scammers.

Hours can pass like the blink of an eye when you are surfing the web. Make the most of your internet experience.

These tips will save you TONS of time instead of looking at fake ads and manually filling out pages of fake job opportunity sites.

First and last names in email addresses like susan_davis@ gmail.comor   jacob_harris @yahoo.com  are intentionally offering personal information so that you will do the same. This is an obvious tactic of spammers.

If you are on a job website and they want you to go to a website to fill out an application, it is usually a waste of time. Go straight to the company's website and look for a 'Careers' tab or 'Employment'.

A flagged or beware item in your inbox is a good indication of spam mail. Delete spam mail when you get it. If it comes again, mark as ‘junk’ so that your email provider can do it’s job and filter out the ‘wasted time’ mails.

Keep your eyes open for really short ads and the lack of contact information.

Ebay sellers who don’t have good reputation are a definite no-no. Also watch out for minimal ratings. A scammer can buy a lot of small items and receive a decent rating just to prepare for that big heist. Only buy from those who have exceptional ratings. 

There are so many more obvious signs of internet scamming. The most important thing to remember is to do your research. If you are interested in finding out information about employers, go straight to their site. If you are making a purchase for an item, research that too. Check your average or ‘popular’ retailer for the TRUTH about items before trying to purchase from an internet store.
