'The Speckled Umbrella', founded in 2009 by two Human Resources Professionals.
The Speckled Umbrella represents a variety of thoughts, ideas, and (speckled) rants by the two owners, Michelle Bredine (Human Resources Generalist) and Cass Fisher (Human Resources Recruiter). The 'Umbrella' represents the one 'roof' that all of this fun falls under. Or so I like to think. Michelle actually came into my (Cass') office one day when we were discussing having our own site and said that she wanted to name it 'The Spotted Umbrella' or something to that effect. I think I came up with the 'speckled' part. But like most BIG ideas, it's not the thought that counts. It's the action!
Now we are working on 'speckling' the web with our content and sharing our opinions and knowledge with others who have been laid off. We are currently doing what we can to assist the 400+ employees who are still in the throes of being laid off at our location in the Denver Metro area.
Cass Fisher was laid off in April 2010. Michelle is still working in the office where she must stay to close the doors on her final day of employment.
Michelle and Cass worked together in a small office and like most co-workers, share stories, product reviews (what works and what doesn't) and 'out of the office' hobbies. Visit our blog and get more information on how to deal with the Unemployment Effect and Inside The Mind Of A Recruiter.
